What is Myopia?

A common eye condition which causes blurred distance vision.

It often develops during early childhood and the eye becomes longer than average.

What is Myopia Management?

Myopia management, aka “myopia control”, is a treatment program to keep the level of myopia as low as possible, and reduce the risk of developing serious sight-threatening eye diseases.

The length of the eye is known as ‘axial length’.

In Myopia, the axial length continues to grow, known as axial elongation (shown below).

As a result of axial elongation, images don’t get focused properly on the retina. Instead, they get focused in front of the retina. This causes distance blur.

What causes Myopia?

Genetics

Kids with one or two myopic parents are likely to be myopic.

Lifestyle

Kids who spend more time using handheld devices instead of spend time outdoors are more likely to become myopic.

Ortho-keratology orthok, ortho-k, atropine eye drops, soft multifocal contact lenses, Coopervision MiSight, Paragon CRT, Johnson & Johnson J&J Ability, FDA approved for myopia control, NaturalVue, Biofinity Multifocal, low dose atropine.

OUR UNIQUE SOLUTION

We can slow the progression of myopia with myopia managment using:

Eye Drops

Contact Lenses

Myopia is increasing at an alarming rate!

Atropine Eye Drops

Research has shown low-concentration atropine eye drops are highly effective at helping to stabilize myopia. These drops are taken just before bedtime to help minimize visual side effects.

Soft Contact Lenses

The FDA has approved specific soft contact lenses to slow the progression of myopia. These are worn during the daytime as a substitute for glasses. The FDA has approved soft lenses to help stabilize myopia.

Ortho-Keratology Contact Lenses

Ortho-keratology, also known as “Ortho-K”, lenses are worn during bedtime to correct vision as you sleep. These are hard contact lenses; also known as rigid gas permeable lenses “RGPs”. The FDA has approved Ortho-K lenses to help stabilize myopia.
